Nike Smoke

I saw the Scotglas Manufacturing kits and wanted to build one of the beauties. Unfortunately, the company had stopped making kits at that time. However, Giant Leap Rocketry built a kit for me around the Scotglas parts (molded fiberglass nose cone and fins) including their own source of fiberglassed body tubes. Now, Scotglas is offering kits again, so it can be ordered direct.

The Kit

The kit is well built, the tube beautifully finished (only minor filling needed). Note that it doesn't come with instructions or recovery system, although they do include a piece of tubular aramid and some of the hardware necessary. This is more a collection of major parts than a true kit. However, the parts a beautifully made. Below, the photo of the motor mount tube with the beautiful 1/2" centering rings.

The kit comes with no parachute, which is reasonable, and no provision for a payload section, which is less so. The main body tube is 48" long with the nose cone fitting right into the top of the body tube. This is a standard setup for motor ejection, but I would like to use electronics for a rocket this large.
